Stability

Fluff:

Mechanics:

The game is simple enough! Designed to be played by 2-4 persons, stability is a game of foresight and strategy.

  • The Game takes place on a 10x10 board, with each starting square being numbered between (1)-(8)
    • All starting squares, the corners, are numbered (1) by default
    • All numbers must have equal board representation
    • No square can have a starting number below (1) or above (8)
      • In play however, the number on any given tile can range between (0)-(10)
    • Squares are assigned their numbers on an essentially random basis
  • The Game and turn structure takes place in the following order
    • Each player places their Homunculus (their little token) on one of the four corners of the board, with their Permeation counter set at zero (presented by the "0" being visible on a D10). The players then roll randomly to decide who makes the first move
    • On their turn, each player moves their "Homunculus" (a D10) a number of squares equal to the number listed on their current tile
      • Each Homunculus must be moved each turn
      • Each Homunculus may be moved no more or no less than the number listed on their present tile
      • Movement can only be conducted in straight lines
    • After movement, each player may "afflict" a "Mutation" upon the game board, with the effect of either increasing or decreasing the number currently listed on any given tile by (1)
      • Tiles which already host another players Homunculus cannot be afflicted
    • After a Homunculus afflicts a Mutation upon the game board, that Homunculus gains (1) point of "Permeation"
    • Permeation is the driving force of Stability, it acts as a means to augment the game board outside of a standard Mutation
      • Beginning at Permeation-Count 0, after each use of a non-Permeated Mutation to the game board, a Homunculus increases their Permeation-Count by (1)
      • A Homunculus' Permeation-Count may not go below (0) or greater than (9)
      • Upon reaching a Permeation-Count of (3) or greater, the player may chose to augment their standard Mutation by decreasing their Permeation-Count by a number of points equal to the cost of the desired effect (See table)
      • Using a Permeation in this way does not affect the rest of the turn structure and must be done just prior to the "Affliction" phase. The turn then proceeds as: Move > Declare use of Permeation > Use Permeated Mutation

Loosing the Game

A player loses the game when their Homunculus is unable to make further moves (they are placed on a tile marked with a "0"), or when making a move would force the Homunculus off the game board.

(4) PC Increase the mutation applied to a tile by (1)
(4) PC When afflicting a tile with an non-Permeated mutation, the player can chose two additional adjacent tiles to be afflicted by the same mutation
(5) PC Increase the mutation applied to a tile by (2)
(5) PC When afflicting a tile with an non-Permeated mutation, the player can chose three additional adjacent tiles to be afflicted by the same mutation
(6) PC Increase the mutation applied to a tile by (3)
(6) PC When afflicting a tile with an non-Permeated mutation, the player can chose an additional tile to be afflicted by the same mutation
(7) PC Increase the mutation applied to a tile by (4)
(7) PC When afflicting a tile with an non-Permeated mutation, the player can chose two additional tiles to be afflicted by the same mutation
(8) PC When afflicting a tile with an non-Permeated mutation, the player can chose 3 additional tiles to be afflicted by the same mutation
(8) PC When afflicting a tile with an non-Permeated mutation, the player can chose two additional tiles to be afflicted by differing mutations
(9) PC When afflicting a tile with a mutation, the player can alter the number on any given tile to any number between 0-9
